My bump is definitely getting bigger and people at work have noticed that it is not the cause of too many pints, or too many pies.
Officially, I am in the third trimester. Time has passed pretty quickly and I haven’t had any pregnancy complaints so far (luckily), although carrying round a football-like belly does make my muscles tired. Maia has been kicking and moving a lot lately. It’s a funny feeling when one is trying to eat and someone else is moving inside!
The blood test at the midwife’s clinic came back a few weeks ago showing that I have anemia. I was prescribed ferrous sulphate. In addition, Rob and I also went shopping and bought some steak and kale to top up my iron level. I hate blood tests but may have to have another one done to confirm my iron levels in a few weeks. Mum has also given me some Chinese natural gelatin thingy which is apparently nutritious and good for the birth.
I met up with my friend Maria two weeks ago and gave her a big surprise. I managed to refrain from telling her that I am pregnant over the phone and her jaws dropped when she saw me.
The last time I met up with her was sometime before our trip to Hong Kong in February. I could tell that she was very happy for me.
We have been attending the once-a-week antenatal classes for the last two Mondays evenings. It was more of an introduction for the first lesson with two midwives discussing their experiences and showing us what the different equipments are. The second one was a bit more interesting. Two health visitors were telling us what their roles are after the baby’s born and what kind of help we could get from them. We’ll be attending the final session of the antenatal program tonight. Apart from those, I have also booked for the active birth and breastfeeding workshops (sadly Rob is not allowed to go to the latter one).
